Letter: Piepkorn Walks the Walk for North Dakota, Armstrong Doesn’t
Are you tired of partisanship rather than what’s good for North Dakota? I am. The North Dakota Legislature spent its time on extremist bills. Where was the Governor, who should set a positive agenda and champion bills to help all of us, not just the wealthiest or members of one party?
Merrill Piepkorn will be that Governor who puts people before party. He has pledged to unify and to continue his reach-across-the-aisle style to find solutions. He will support property tax reform, women’s rights, public education, workforce development, affordable childcare, and housing affordability. His record shows he doesn’t just talk, he walks the walk.
But not Kelly Armstrong, his opponent. His record in the U. S. House shows he will give us more extremist partisanship. He votes as his party tells him to. Kelly voted against stronger border protections, against women’s reproductive rights, against saving money for seniors, against veterans’ benefits, against public education and affordable college, against childcare, against small businesses, and against mental and behavioral health services. He didn’t support the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill that brought millions of dollars to North Dakota and he voted against the American Rescue Plan that gave thousands of North Dakota families an expanded child tax credit. Not sure that’s true? Look at his record: Vote Smart - Facts For All.
Armstrong says one thing but does another- his actions are often against North Dakotans’ best interests. Piepkorn walks the walk, he will get my vote!
